[A week has passed. There's been no body, no investigation, no trial. No deaths. Congratulations!

Now the question is, will it last? At the moment, the Commander seems content with forcing people to do petty and mean-spirited errands in return for a mere shower. On the one hand, it's just for showers. On the other hand, what if the demands start to get more extreme? Would caving in encourage her? Is anyone willing to try and find out?

Honesty, with all the strange dates and information floating around from what's been uncovered, the only one in this place who's probably not worried as the time slips into its next movement is Sir Riprazor McRockfang. That's right, he's a sir. A grumpy sir, yes, but still a sir. No one's going to mess with him, regardless of what his true origins may be. And if they do, beware - he bites. Omnom. Hm... well, I might be able to help. What are you looking at now?

[He gets up and goes over to Yurick, glancing at his screen.]

[The monitor is displaying a basic menu to select available games and information. At least Yurick's figured out that pressing a number opens the associated program, but he's a very slow hunt and peck typist and he has no idea how to work any of the games.]

I'm not even certain. Are these really so useful in your world?

Oh, absolutely. They're used... basically everywhere. Homes, work, the vehicles we use to get around, the entertainment systems we use... it's difficult to not encounter a computer nowadays, if not impossible.

I've been reading in the library here almost daily, and some of the places described in a few books remind me of my world. But they've been listed as fantasy or ancient history. Certainly no computers in those worlds, either.

Ah, well. There's all sorts of worlds represented here, I suppose. We all think of our worlds as 'modern', don't we?
