[A week has passed. There's been no body, no investigation, no trial. No deaths. Congratulations!

Now the question is, will it last? At the moment, the Commander seems content with forcing people to do petty and mean-spirited errands in return for a mere shower. On the one hand, it's just for showers. On the other hand, what if the demands start to get more extreme? Would caving in encourage her? Is anyone willing to try and find out?

Honesty, with all the strange dates and information floating around from what's been uncovered, the only one in this place who's probably not worried as the time slips into its next movement is Sir Riprazor McRockfang. That's right, he's a sir. A grumpy sir, yes, but still a sir. No one's going to mess with him, regardless of what his true origins may be. And if they do, beware - he bites. Omnom. [That gets a small smile from her. It might not stay for too long, but at least it's there for the moment.]

Thanks. I know that it's probably just...paranoia with all the family curse junk, but...I just can't help but worry, really.

Family curse? [Vita is definitely genuinely curious. No one else has brought up magic from their worlds and with her hiding the fact that she's a witch, it's difficult to ask.] If it's not too painful to speak of, I'd be interested in hearing more.

Oh, it's-it's just something silly. Supposedly, back when my family lived in Norway, a great grandfather of mine made a 'witch' angry and she cursed our family name. Now, according to my mom, only one kid from each generation is likely to become an adult while the rest die. Then when they have children they die.

But it's all just ridiculous. I'm pretty sure my parents just tell us that to be careful all the time.

You're right, I'm sure it's just a tale to scare children based off a grain of truth from some tragic events of the past. Or maybe that story helped a parent through a tragic loss.

That's...that's probably what happened. The story is from my mom's side of the family, and we don't really have may relatives there. Then there's what happened to my grandpa and Molly, and...

[She shakes her head a little bit, not finding the need to say it right now.]

I wouldn't be surprised if she just wanted us to be safe and make her think things weren't so bad.

Everyone wants the people they care about to be safe. That's why I'm so displeased with her for taking such pleasure in our pain.

[earietale]

[She nods after a second. It's small, but noticeable enough.]

If it's not true, I just want to punch her in the face. She'd deserve it for making me think my family is gone!

Well, let's just say I enjoyed feeding her terrible food yesterday. Just my way to getting a bit of revenge.

[Vita winks. She's not a chef, that's for sure, but she had a feeling that all would taste horrible and that's why she didn't eat it first.]

[She giggles a little bit at hearing that.]

I wish I had thought of that. I just made her a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. And it somehow almost won.

[She still can't really understand why? All that was special was that it was star-shaped.]

Well, I can't cook and neither can my roommate, so I ran with it.

I'm not sure if Richard can, either. I just was afraid of setting the kitchen on fire.

[About as bad as opera diva + butler.]

If you do, then we just have to be sure we can outrun her.

[Congratulations! You just got a bit of a snort out of her! She's definitely happier now than when she first came in.]

I got a feeling that won't be too hard.

[She's been pretty upset at having such a recent loss shoved in her face, but this conversation has helped and Vita is smiling.]

Same here, Vita. It's really nice to see that most of us are pretty nice rather than just jerks like the Commander.

I can see no reason not to be. It's not like any of us had a choice in being here and don't have things we need to be doing at home.

You're right. Sometimes, though, you can't help but worry about people just being mean for no reason.

True, there are monsters among people after all.
