[As Marie said: so much for trust and resolve. Two people are dead, and there is very little anyone can do about it now, no matter how much they would have wanted to sacrifice themselves.

In particular, with Marie's words during the trial, it's clear that time is limited. Or is it? Marie is also capable of omitting the truth when it serves her needs, especially when it comes towards the Strangers and their still-missing memories. In any case, one can only hope they don't fall for her tricks again, even though getting away with murder would - apparently - save at least one life.

There is something else, as well. When everyone wakes up the morning, they will find that information on their wristwatches has been updated to reflect their new number - and something new about their powers. Not only that, but a new floor has opened up above Floor 1 for everyone to explore. Maybe more can be found on just what, exactly, is going on.

Is Marie telling the truth? Is the universe really ending? Or is it just another means of getting what she wants? Whatever is happening, people will need to be more careful around her - and one another. Who knows what Marie will offer next - or what your roommate or new friend is now capable of as a result. Especially since it's now known, thanks to Marie's actions during the trial, that everyone has definitely lost some memories. And unfortunately, no one seems to have regained any of them so far - or if anyone has, they haven't said a word.

If trust and resolve was ever needed, it feels like now is the time to try and find all that.

[... Well, okay. He's going to go take it to a sink and try to wash off the acid. What kind of acid is it? Is the vial/beaker/jar labeled?]

[Its labeled as hydrochloric acid.]

[Ah. Well. Shit. He's going to see if he can also find some sodium bicarbonate/baking soda.]

[There is, thankfully! Clearly the person who stocks this lab knows their stuff.]

[He'll just... coat this thing and then wash it off, just to make sure the acid is neutralized. He'll set that aside to dry for a moment while he continues looking at the acids. ... He'll change his gloves first, though. No need to contaminate things.]

[Not a problem.

The chemicals are all neatly arranged, by acid, base, and neutral, and in order of intensity. All are marked accordingly, in a strange pastel that Seto would know well by now.

Nagoya would know it as crayon.]

[Naoya raises an eyebrow and notes down all of the ones he can find. What else is of note here? What sort of chemistry or biology does the equipment suggest, if anything in particular?]

[A very advanced kind of biology and chemistry, as well as medicine. The more advanced items and chemicals and supplies seem to indicate molecular biology and chemistry and medicine. There is even some stuff for robotics, weaponry, quantum physics...

By the by, the doll is still in need of a cleaning.]

[Even after he washed it off? Well, he'll get that in a minute... he's not touching it directly either way. Any sign of what kind of projects were going on? Any lab notes around?]

[No, not at the moment at least.]

[All right. He'll check inside all of the cabinets, just to see if there's anything interesting other than more vials.]

[strangerpeople]

[Well there’s more vials and—a videotape inside another acid vial. Sulfuric acid this time, and this one was seemingly hidden behind other vials deliberately.]

[crouching_sin]

[Fucking hell... he grabs the vial and another tray, and another set of tweezers. He sets it out on another tray and starts neutralizing it carefully with some more sodium bicarbonate. He'll try to avoid using water on it if he can.]

[Yeah, someone...someone didn't like these items. At least the doll is...saved? sort of?

Naoya will notice that the doll is handmade, and what's left of it resembles a raccoon.]

[... Great. It wouldn't happen to have any tags or childish marker on it that hasn't been dissolved by acid, would it?]

[No, unfortunately. It's just what's left of a raccoon...thing.]
