WEEK 3

[As Marie said: so much for trust and resolve. Two people are dead, and there is very little anyone can do about it now, no matter how much they would have wanted to sacrifice themselves.

In particular, with Marie's words during the trial, it's clear that time is limited. Or is it? Marie is also capable of omitting the truth when it serves her needs, especially when it comes towards the Strangers and their still-missing memories. In any case, one can only hope they don't fall for her tricks again, even though getting away with murder would - apparently - save at least one life.

There is something else, as well. When everyone wakes up the morning, they will find that information on their wristwatches has been updated to reflect their new number - and something new about their powers. Not only that, but a new floor has opened up above Floor 1 for everyone to explore. Maybe more can be found on just what, exactly, is going on.

Is Marie telling the truth? Is the universe really ending? Or is it just another means of getting what she wants? Whatever is happening, people will need to be more careful around her - and one another. Who knows what Marie will offer next - or what your roommate or new friend is now capable of as a result. Especially since it's now known, thanks to Marie's actions during the trial, that everyone has definitely lost some memories. And unfortunately, no one seems to have regained any of them so far - or if anyone has, they haven't said a word.

If trust and resolve was ever needed, it feels like now is the time to try and find all that.

[Sometime in the mid-morning, Strangers will become aware of shouting on Floor 1.]

WHY YOU!! HOW DARE YOU CUT ME!!

[Yup, that's Marie all right. But who is she shouting at?]

OH, WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? NO, DON'T YOU DA--

[Anyone who manages to get up to Floor 1 - and specifically in front of the entrance to the Commander's room - will find Richard and his doppelganger, surrounded by five camerabots, while Marie is holding her face with an angry, horrifed - and perhaps scared? - look. They will be just in time to see one of the Richards, as they begin to fight, plunge a sword, hard, into one of the camerabots. It runs right through, causing it to short and explode.

At this, the other four camerabots surrounding light up.]

SUBJECT: RICHARD. THE DOUBLE. WARNING LEVEL 3 - RULE BROKEN.

ACTIVATE PUNISHMENT FOR RULE-BREAK.

[Instantly, the remaining camerabots each unleash a devastating laser attack, straight through the Double's chest. There's no time to react to even try and save him, and as Richard crumples, his eyes becoming blank and his chest smoking, the doppelganger turns to mist.

Nearby, Marie's face goes from angry to mocking, and she laughs at the sight.]

AHAHA! STUPID FOOL...THINKING HE COULD CHANGE HIS FATE IF HE ATTACKED LIKE THAT! OH WELL!

[The camerabots depart, leaving the body where it is. Richard's body convulses for a moment before it stills, and it's pretty clear that there's no chance of saving him.

Richard, The Double, is dead.

[Starting today, Strangers will notice a random and sudden increase in the computers activating it's anti-hack software. Terrible recorder playing and 8-bit music fills the air at random intervals.

Hmm.]

[Nagisa is up early, or maybe he just didn't get to sleep.....either way he's done his exploring and can first be found in the kitchen (and then the mess hall) preparing breakfast for everyone here with some of the fresh food from upstairs. With his behavior....you'd think nothing had happened. And yes, he's cooking for everyone.]

Good morning!

[Later, he can be found in the probably-still-glittery theater. He's left a note at weapons storage saying he's borrowed a knife, and indeed he has; he's swinging it rhythmically and repetitively. Knife drills. Anyone who'd recognize them would be able to note his movements are professional and well-rehearsed. He's done this before.

Finally, he can later be seen working at the laser room...though for now he's just watching them closely. Studying them. Got to be something useful back there and....he bets he could do it.]

[ARE YOU READY!!

FIRST LINE OF LASERS, GO!!!]

[We start out with poor timing and get hit smack in the chest don't we. Onward!]

[Well he'd been exploring and hadn't gotten to look at the theater since the murder.]

[Instead of an empty room, what he finds is Nagisa, swinging around a knife. He lingers near the door, not wanting to get in his way. Once he's done with what looks like a set, Naoya speaks up.]

Full of surprises, aren't you?

[Ow ow ow.

Ok, next set of lasers looks harder. LET'S DO THIS!!!]

[Harder lasers means fancier free-running! With like. Sliding along the floor with an unfortunate pigtail catching a laser.]

[oh, company. A short break is in order then. Nagisa smiles, more or less cheerful.]

I didn't think anyone would come here, all things considered.

[And now it looks harder! WILL YOU MAKE IT!?]

[Yes we will! With a flip!]

I was curious as to how it looked - I haven't been in here for a while.

It doesn't bother you?

Not really. [At all.] And it's useful to go somewhere no one wants to be, if I'm going to drill knifework. I don't want to hurt anyone.

[You can see the small box that's being protected by the lasers! YOU'RE SO CLOSE!!

[His flip narrowly avoided the first laser and elegantly dodged the second....

Only for the landing to put him right into the line of fire with no time to dodge it. Ow.]

[He's quiet for a long moment.]

I'm a little surprised that someone your age has been taught how to use a knife so well, considering you seem fairly modern...

[And thus, he is lasered in the face and knocked out.

When he wakes up, he's found himself deposited in front of the entrance to the room, with a splooping sound underneath his body. Hm.]

[ New rooms means new inventory. So he's going to take stock of every room throughout the day. So basically if you wanna find him, he's somewhere on the new floor. Ana is not typing out him taking inventory of every room, okay?

The only time he takes a break is at the onsen where he bathes and the laser room. Because he's going to cheat the fuck out of said laser room with his power. ]

Ah...yeah. it was part of my class's education. Karasuma-sensei is military, so the curriculum was....atypical.

Heh. I wouldn't have thought that would have gotten past an education board. In any case, it'll probably serve you fairly well here.

[....That's worrying. So the alive-ness of the building isn't limited to the trial room.

Nevertheless, he gets to his feet, studies the lasers a bit longer....then expertly weaves through with seemingly no effort at all.]
