WEEK 1
[The train wouldn't stop. Not until very early the next morning. The few who might have been awake would be able to exit the train, entering the cool twilight of the dawn. The star is dark, and few stars can be seen in the sky as a cold breeze begins to blow from the mountain beyond. You can see some chunks of rock floating idly nearby, far away from the station that it won't hit trains, but near enough that one can see they are larger than the train they just disembarked.
Lastly, laid out in front of them, the first port of call: Menahoven. The mountain: The Throat of the World.
But which world? Who knows. Not any of yours. Maybe it doesn't matter. Not when you are so far from home. Not when you have no way to get off this rock without the aid of the trains-and they will not let you pass.
It looks like you're stuck here until the Conductor decides to leave. In the meantime, everyone will need to get comfortable.
There are fifteen strangers left in this place.]

Most of the rest? It's laid out on one of the tables in the dining car. He sits in a booth at the table, the notebook in one hand as he reads something that won't be edited, and the other petting the...technically normal cat for everyone else, for him a sort of weird but docile living being, which lays beside him, sleeping.
The robot dog is on the floor, also, doing it's own thing. King would try to get it under control, but he prefers not burning, so he's not going to stop it.
This day is certainly turning out to be interesting...]

How....?

[King doesn't even look up from the notebook as Minato rushes over. He does look up to see what he's looking at, though.]
You need it? I don't know if I'll have much of a use for it.
no subject
[He's careful with the key. Honestly probably for the best considering the state his hands are in. Now if only they were the reason.]
no subject
Really? Is there something, uh..."special" about that key that would make it invisible to me?
no subject
[How the hell does he explain this.]
Unlocks a door only I can see, as far as I know. Door to a place between dream and reality.
no subject
[Well, that was...easy to convince.]
The offer still stands. I don't exactly have a use for it if that's what it does.
[And he goes back to reading from the notebook.]

King, is this little one from the baggage claim?
no subject
[Despite the deadpan delivery, he doesn't seem to be joking, considering he stopped looking at the book to tell Proto that.]
no subject
[He crouches down and extends a hand toward the (non talking) dog. Even if they're both robotic, Proto still has a scent that the dog may be able to pick up.]
Hey there, friend. You have a name?
no subject
He doesn't seem to be much of a talker, really.
no subject
How about "Friender," at least for the time being? Is that okay?
[He looks back up at King, about to comment on how people talk to pets all the time without expecting an answer, but... right, never mind.]
He's still a good boy in any case.
no subject
King can't help but give a small smile at the sight.]
Yeah, he probably is.
Would you like him? He seems to like you.

[ She takes one look at the outfit that's on the table, holding up the crop top to her chest. Looks like it'd be a perfect fit. ]
no subject
[He's looking up from the book and sees that it's probably her's, but it's always good to check, right?]
no subject
[ She's going to take it and dart off before returning, steampunk attire in her arms and new outfit on the body.
If nothing else, she certainly looks a lot happier. ]
no subject
When she comes back, he gives her a small nod of approval.]
Looks good. I'm glad you could get it back.
no subject
Well, I'm sure I'm not the only one around here who finds the clothes they've given us unnecessarily restrictive, am I?
no subject
[The only reason he's keeping the steampunk stuff on is because his tux should be worn willy-nilly and his usual attire...probably not good etiquette, around these people.]

Whoever's giving us allowances is fairly generous, aren't they?
no subject
You're not wrong, considering I got about ten things, two of which I'm glad I got back.
[He can't help but fiddle with the tag of his collar when saying that, turning the king piece a little bit to each side.]
no subject
What's the point of living a thousand years if you don't indulge in some unhealthy hedonism?
no subject
Fair enough. I'm not gonna argue with...your philosophy.
[He'd be specific and say witch, but he doesn't really know that yet. Either way he's not questioning the 1,000 years old thing.]

no subject
Yeah, it takes a little more than that to stun someone like me. Though I am curious how a human managed to live for so long. May I ask how?
