[The train wouldn't stop. Not until very early the next morning. The few who might have been awake would be able to exit the train, entering the cool twilight of the dawn. The star is dark, and few stars can be seen in the sky as a cold breeze begins to blow from the mountain beyond. You can see some chunks of rock floating idly nearby, far away from the station that it won't hit trains, but near enough that one can see they are larger than the train they just disembarked.

Lastly, laid out in front of them, the first port of call: Menahoven. The mountain: The Throat of the World.

But which world? Who knows. Not any of yours. Maybe it doesn't matter. Not when you are so far from home. Not when you have no way to get off this rock without the aid of the trains-and they will not let you pass.

It looks like you're stuck here until the Conductor decides to leave. In the meantime, everyone will need to get comfortable.

[Eliza plops down fifteen potions onto the table.] So I checked out the apothecary, and its "alchemy" seems to really work. At least, the invisibility potion I made did, even if it was just for a little while. So I made enough healing potions for all of you! Just in case something happens, you know?

I'd read a little bit about it myself. That's incredible Eliza, thank you so much! This will be really helpful.

If there's time, it might not be a bad idea to try to stock up before we leave.

[Eliza nods.] Yeah...if everyone works together I'm sure we could get a lot more done.

If you don't mind teaching me the right recipe, I'd be happy to help.

Oh, I just mixed the blue mountain flower and wheat. Apparently there's multiple ways to make each potion, but this seemed easiest and also the least gross!

[Hopefully no one on this train has gluten allergies.]

Good to know. I think I'll make a listing of some of the more useful recipes later. Who knows, if we can find the ingredients, it wouldn't be a bad thing to remember. And most of them seem fairly easy.

[At least, the most important ones.]

[Eliza nods.] I wonder if they'd let us take tools from that place too. Those might also be important for how the potion-making works.

Woah...

[He's gonna take one of these and swirl the liquid in the bottle.] Since when did you learn to make potions and shit?

I already know a bit about alchemy, and Miss Beatrice explained a bit more! Plus that place has really useful directions in the book there.

Huh... I had no idea...

[No idea what to do with the bottle at the moment so he'll just hang onto it.] Thanks. What other kindsa potions could you make with that book?

There were also some that seemed pretty bad...one for damaging instead of healing, and another for poison. As well as "slow" and "frenzy" potions...and there was one for curing disease. No antidote though...

Antidote? For the poison?

Yeah...that means someone could use the poison to commit a murder and we wouldn't be able to save someone!

Then keep an eye on the food so nobody gets poisoned... Or I don't know. Try to make something up?

All I know's from the book though...I was also thinking we could just hide the poison ingredients, since there are only three. Or count them so we know if they've been used...

What's stopping you from putting random crap in the pot to see what happens?

[Zack probably shouldn't be left in the alchemist's room unless you want to see him with a donkey head or something.]

Or we could just break the containers, right? Can't use that shit if it's all over the floor.

Well, we'd have no way to test if it's an antidote without poisoning someone. And well...some of the potions still seem like they'd be useful, you know? I want to at least make a bunch of the helpful ones before we have to leave. [At least this train probably won't be bumpy and jostle all those bottles.]

Oh... Right.

[Thank god he has a stepsister that's better at this planning thing than he is.]

Where are you keeping them again?

In my room, for now, though I might give out some more so everyone has some ready just in case. Also, the dangerous potions are green, so it might also be good to watch out for liquids of those colors...

... The dangerous shit is green. Why am I not surprised.

I dunno. Poison felt like it should be purple to me, personally.

[Well doesn't that bring back memories? There's a ghost of a smile on Caleb's face as he tucks the vial into his pocket.]

How many supplies were in there? Do you know?

It looked like quite a lot-enough to make all these potions and still have plenty left over. Plus I bet it also gets refilled, since it's meant for people to play around with.

I might take a look... a few potions of various options might be useful to have.

Yeah... [She makes a mental note to check the poison ingredients later. After all, there's no way to counter that as far as they can tell...]
