[The train wouldn't stop. Not until very early the next morning. The few who might have been awake would be able to exit the train, entering the cool twilight of the dawn. The star is dark, and few stars can be seen in the sky as a cold breeze begins to blow from the mountain beyond. You can see some chunks of rock floating idly nearby, far away from the station that it won't hit trains, but near enough that one can see they are larger than the train they just disembarked.

Lastly, laid out in front of them, the first port of call: Menahoven. The mountain: The Throat of the World.

But which world? Who knows. Not any of yours. Maybe it doesn't matter. Not when you are so far from home. Not when you have no way to get off this rock without the aid of the trains-and they will not let you pass.

It looks like you're stuck here until the Conductor decides to leave. In the meantime, everyone will need to get comfortable.

[ Mithos was looking so intently at the sword he nearly jumps when he hears Minato speak ]

Ah-- No... yes ...

[ small frustrated noise ]

I remember seeing this sword. When the pact was created. When I asked him to make it. But after that...

[ No amounts of staring it helping him recall and it's so frustrating. ]

[Hmm.... Well. It's worrying, how out of it Mithos seems. The sword? Is it the sword that's bothering him?

What kind of "pact"...?]

Who's "he"?

[ a beat before Mithos realizes what exactly he was saying.

Well. Too late to back out now isn't it. He sighs lightly. ]

He's a Spirit. King of the Spirits, actually.

[biddentodance]

A "Spirit"....like a ghost, or...?

[He doesn't know a lot about Mithos's world. And spirit is a pretty vague term.]

The spirits are entities, supported by mana from the Giant Kharlan Tree, that help distribute the mana throughout the world.

[ ... it's a good thing Minato and Mithos have already had a discussion about his world. Otherwise there would be a lot more to explain. ]

There are eleven spirits in all. You have the eight elemental spirits, Origin who is the King of Spirits, Maxwell who is Ruler of the Elements, and Ratatosk who is considered the Spirit of the Giant Kharlan Tree itself.

[ He'll stop there to see if Minato has any questions ]

Eight? [Well then. Not the classical Greek elements, and not the science kind. Also not the elements his Personas use.]

Sounds like it's pretty important, if it's from a pact with one of them. Especially the king.

[ Mithos nods his head ]

Fire, Lightning, Dark, and Earth and their opposing elements Ice, Water, Light, and Wind.

[ As for Origin's Pact and that sword right there... he hesitates for a moment. ]

It is. I remember its creation during the pact but...

[ a frown and another frustrated noise. Nope, even talking about it isn't helping him remember and it's really upsetting. ]

Huh.... Usable set I know is fire, ice, electricity, wind, light, dark, and almighty.

[But something is still clearly wrong, it's all over the younger teen's face.]

Problem?

Almighty? What kind of element is that?

[ a genuine question. he can guess electricity is much like lightning, but he can't guess what kind of element almighty is. ]

I ... I don't remember ever receiving it, even though I made the pact.

[biddentodance]

Neutral. Just - is. Busts through basically anything.

[Typeless, basically.]

....think....your memory might've been erased somehow?

Ah, I get it. A neutral element that doesn't have a counterpart.

[ He nods. There are some spells back home that are like that so he understands. ]

... Maybe. No matter how much I try I can't remember and yet I know it had to have been used. There's ... no way it couldn't have.

[He nods. Yup, no counterpart.]

That...... Vespertine vanished six months ago. Know that something happened during that time. Wonder if all of us have been messed with somehow...

It's.. possible. I don't even remember much about The Vespertine so I suppose that in itself tells me that my memories have been ... mixed somehow.

[He just...slowly, gently opens and closes one fist.]

Six missing months, and changes... Have a bad feeling about this.

[ Mithos nods, glancing at the sword again as he speaks. ]

Between the Vespertine and our own memories from back before all this ... what are we truly missing. What are all the connections to all of this.

[biddentodance]

And....what else might have happened to us.

[He lightly clenches both fists.]

[ .... okay it might just be his imagination but-- ]

Your hands... did something happen?

[He pauses for a moment, considering how to reply. He doesn't want to cause any worry.]

Not that I can recall. Just....don't like not knowing what's going on. Frustrating.

[ Mithos frowns, unconvinced. He's seen this sort of thing from his sister enough times to where it's very possible there's... something more to it.

But he doesn't push it. It's not really his place to do so, is it. ]

... Yeah, I understand. It's frustrating for me too.

[ looking back at that damn sword again ]
