15strangers | WEEK 1

WEEK 1

[The train wouldn't stop. Not until very early the next morning. The few who might have been awake would be able to exit the train, entering the cool twilight of the dawn. The star is dark, and few stars can be seen in the sky as a cold breeze begins to blow from the mountain beyond. You can see some chunks of rock floating idly nearby, far away from the station that it won't hit trains, but near enough that one can see they are larger than the train they just disembarked.

Lastly, laid out in front of them, the first port of call: Menahoven. The mountain: The Throat of the World.

But which world? Who knows. Not any of yours. Maybe it doesn't matter. Not when you are so far from home. Not when you have no way to get off this rock without the aid of the trains-and they will not let you pass.

It looks like you're stuck here until the Conductor decides to leave. In the meantime, everyone will need to get comfortable.

[ He'll pick out the Dragonsbane sword. He only ever had the intention of using this in their sparring match. ]

Yeah, I did.

[ ...

He steps back from Mithos and point the sword at him. ]

Let's get this over with already.

[ Mithos nods. There's no need for anymore words so it's time to start the sparring match.

And guess who was being humble this half-elf and it shows as they spar because what is actually writing spar or fight scenes. McBurn overall is the better swordsman most likely, but Mithos is no push over. ]

[ McBurn's expectations weren't abysmal, though he wasn't anticipating Mithos as an absurdly strong candidate. That being said, he was glad to find that the blond was simply being humble, and deep down he suspected as much. Especially with how eager he was to handle a sword. ]

How about this?

[ He's clearly experienced and talented with a blade, and what are writing fights. But, as it's become clear that Mithos isn't a push over, he's going to start going at it hard, upping the pressure and clearly no longer going easy on the blond. ]

[ Once McBurn starts going at it harder Mithos couldn't help be slightly amused. Ah, so he was going easy on him at first, huh. Figures since he probably doesn't look like someone who can wield a sword. ]

Please, don't hold back!

[ How is it to learn if his sparring partner holds back on him? And even once McBurn ups the pressure Mithos still manages to hold his own for a while before he starts to show exhaustion. Once that happens though he only goes on the defense instead of asking to stop. Someone might be using this whole fight as a good distraction. ]

[ It's mostly a good way to test out to see how well he fared first before going full on right from the start...but he's certainly learned. ]

Heheh, I won't...eat this!

[ McBurn's certainly relentless, and when Mithos is blocking/on the defensive there are definitely times where he'd swing his sword purposely hard and fast against his to see if how well the other can hold up or if he could knock it straight out of his hands. He also doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon, despite how seemingly lackadaisical and lethargic he may have appeared. ]

[ Mithos stays on the defensive a little longer. Though he can see that McBurn isn't slowing down and realizes that he's at a disadvantage. He's not surprised, given he doesn't have the powers of his crystal, his magic, and ... might not have been sleeping (but shhh), but it only empowers Mithos to try to fight back a little more.

So he musters up any last strength that he has to go back onto the offense for a time. But eventually McBurn will end up knocking his sword out of his hands. ]

Ah--

[ He's only disappointed that Mithos didn't last longer.

Still, it wasn't a complete waste of time, and he's pointing the sword at Mithos with a bit of a smile before pulling it back. ]

Wasn't too much of a waste of time after all. But maybe it helps that you lasted longer than some people I've fought.

[ He rests the sword against his shoulder. ]

I can only imagine how things would've gone if original powers weren't off the table...

Hah... Do I take that as a compliment?

[ Even though that's normally a sarcastic question from most people Mithos actually is sincere about it. He then smiles a little himself. ]

This is good, though. Now I know that I need to concentrate on my swordsmanship since I cannot rely on my magic here.

If you want.

[ Mithos could always be much better, after all!! ]

Yeah, you do.

I'm always around for a good fight since just swinging around your sword in the air isn't going to make you better.

[ Since if they fight more and more, Mithos might become a better challenge. But that remains to be seen. ]

I'd like that, if you don't mind. I'd like my swordmsmanship to get better than what it currently it. And I feel like I might be able to learn a thing or two from you through these sparring matches.

... Maybe sometime again next week? If possible.

[ since who knows what could happening between now and then, but he'd like to do this again when they can ]

Next week's good. We could even make it the same time and day as this time.

[ Well, nothing's happened, and it keeps McBurn occupied to say the least. So, he's all for it. ]

Next Thursday at noon, then. Thank you again for my sword and I look forward to our next session.

[ Finding a sparring partner he can possibly learn from wasn't something he expected here but hey he will absolutely take it ]
