THE THIRD TRIAL
(~SK. 17-18)

[When the investigation ends, the D O N G rings throughout the ship, followed by Zero's voice.]

It is time. Everyone, come to the theater. Time is...wasting.

[And so it is. The seating has once more changed to reflect the fallen-Moriarty and now Brain's podiums are draped in black. And, of course, there is no food-

The screens come up, and the mask of Zero appears, ever inscrutable. Their instructions are brief.]

Your Brain is gone, I'm afraid. Cut into pieces and cast aside...and someone here knows why. Now, it's time for you to discover the truth as well...if you can.

[The trial for the murder of Brain, the Blue, has begun.]

It seems that Brain-kun was attacked in the hallway with a heated weapon that was scratched against the walls, which caused him to use the saxophone in anger. He was then chased into the lounge, where he used the saxophone in fear. He was assaulted with the heated weapon, subduing him enough that he could be hung. This killed him. The culprit then retrieved a sword that was used to remove his limbs, shedding only a minimal amount of blood. Three limbs were taken to the nearby bathroom, weapons room, and kitchen, while the right arm was taken to the weapons room.

There are two things I don't understand at all. Hermes falling asleep, and the actions taken with the several pieces of paper.

The cipher note I agree is likely written by Brian before being interrupted- but unless the culprit allowed him time to do such a thing after taking him to the lounge he must have written it ahead of time. Perhaps the culprit put him on the couch and he shoved it there when they weren't looking?

I too am still confused by the book at the cutpaper note. The book being from the lounge could mean it was made after Brain was killed and they simply used what was available?

But then why stash the scissors under the sofa in the lounge rather than just take them back to the workshop? That makes me think it was done in a hurry.

Hm. Good point. Though with everything else spread around it very well could be the culprit didn't care.

I mean. There's only so much you can do on this ship before it starts to get boring. Playing the same video games over and over kiiiinda gets old, same with reading the same books over and over. It's really all I can do while everyone else is asleep.

I can understand this. I feel a bit like I'm going mad from idleness some days.

I truly hope that I don't have to keep toying with your emotions trying to determine how you were hacked. That's an ace I'd rather keep up my sleeve. What happened to learning to solve the puzzles like I asked? We talked about that the very night before you would have regained your memory.

I really don't think why smoothies and weird white plush doll things falling from the sky are possible puzzles to be able to be solved.

[Hermes scratches at one of his front legs.]

It's true. If I had to give this movie a genre I'd probably call it absurdist.

I believe that the task of manhandling Hermes can be delegated to Alastor-kun if absolutely necessary. I hope it is not.

I don't entirely understand why he was using his Power, in those circumstances. He could have made his attacker feel what he wanted, so I guess that could explain the fear, but.... It seems like anger would just have made everything worse, right?
