THE THIRD TRIAL
(~SK. 17-18)
[When the investigation ends, the D O N G rings throughout the ship, followed by Zero's voice.]
It is time. Everyone, come to the theater. Time is...wasting.
[And so it is. The seating has once more changed to reflect the fallen-Moriarty and now Brain's podiums are draped in black. And, of course, there is no food-
The screens come up, and the mask of Zero appears, ever inscrutable. Their instructions are brief.]
Your Brain is gone, I'm afraid. Cut into pieces and cast aside...and someone here knows why. Now, it's time for you to discover the truth as well...if you can.

My god...
CW dismemberment both old and new
I believe we should gather the parts for analysis. I am afraid I have something very important to say.
[She says this as flatly and unironically as possible.]
Brain-kun's heart went pitter patter when he thought of his friend Heart-kun.
I mean that I observed for myself his heart pulsed in his body and circulated blood elsewhere, though he did not sweat. He's not here anymore to speak for himself on anything else he might have done. So I'd like to request cooperation in refraining from remarks about such affairs. I only need to know why he circulated blood through his body but did not bleed when dismembered. Perhaps because his brain did not direct the parts. So let's examine the parts and make sure that his neck was snapped before he was killed.
He was also quite modified from the body he desired and has now been modified further. Thus, I am also overseeing the parts for protective purposes. If anyone among us has urges that require satiation after recent events, I will assist them in cutting off the culprit's limb for them to feed from prior to the exception.

Found this in the kitchen. And yes, it was already cooked when I got there.
From the taste I got of him last week...well, not to speak ill of the dead, but his blood was like diet soda. That gross chemical-y taste.

Could it be possible that he was.... um....
That his blood was deliberately drained into some kind of catch basin? And then.... disposed of. Either... uh... consumed or else discarded, to make things... harder for us.

The limbs were cut with some sort of very sharp implement, and then someone tried to cook the leg. They must have been up pretty recently, since the oven was turned off but still warm when we got there.
And I'm gonna go ahead and say this right now: I have an alibi. Roland was with me all night, and would've noticed if I'd left.

[Out on his podium come his clues.]
This... pen [or well, marker, but Hubert doesn't know what that is] of some sort was still hot when I arrived, and melted beyond use. I also found a book from the Lounge that had been cut apart. Said cut pieces have been used at least in these tattered papers and in construction of a note of some sort... spelling my name in particular.

Um... That's a marker, not a pen.

CW: Implications of Suicide
Given there was nothing nearby Brain's body, I doubt he did that to himself. [ Since, y'know. There would have been maybe a tipped chair or something. ] Barring any interference from another, that is.
[ Though he's giving certain people some level of leniency for now. ]
That said, to be able to lift another person's body up, ensure they aren't going to fall and let them hang from the ceiling? Wouldn't that require a lot of strength to pull off such a feat?
no subject
Firstly, we can readily observe that many of us have such strength. I don't think there's a single man that can be eliminated on those grounds, [well, Aoi-kun, but mentioning him would send the room into another commotion] and I wouldn't rule myself out if I were sufficiently determined.
The more interesting question is, would Brain-kun not struggle if he was still alive at the moment the suspension was prepared? Did the culprit manage to prevent themselves from being kicked by him?

WOUND CHECK
Since that's the case, I'm gonna have to ask people to submit to a wound check...Aoi can confirm injuries that came from the badger, I'd think, as long as that thing was eventually captured or killed.
And, uh...sorry, Roland.

SHOE/FOOT/LEG CHECK
We may not gain more information from it, but I don't think it would hurt, either, so....
Please, everybody, let someone else check the state of your shoes, especially their soles, as well as your feet and legs.

Normally, in a game of Vampire: The Masquerade, you'd roll some kind of self-control check at this point. But Val's willpower is running short, and her crumbs of humanity that she's got left are laughable, given that she's been in the Sabbat for most of her unlife.
So fresh tears of blood are seeping out over the ones that have crusted over and dried on her cheeks, as her whole body is shaking. ]
Hey.
Hey, Hubert?

EXECUTION: Blood for Blood
Valerie Castillo has been found rightfully guilty of murder. Now, Hubert von Vestra. While you are the executioner, I do believe another in the room has a weapon fitting for ending the life of this mad spider.
Let us cut through the cobweb without further delay, shall we?
[Immediately, Hubert and Val are shlorped off to the stage as the curtains part, revealing the vines in the background as those now familiar glowing eyes watch. Hubert has Durandal in his hands and though Val still has crimson tears on her cheeks, she bows down before Hubert, on her knees as he swings the blade.
The blade cuts efficiently and quickly as her head flies off, landing near the creature with the eyes. The vines gather up the head and slowly suck the blood from it, before the head seems to collapse into little more than a skull.
Likewise, as the skull is dropped onto the floor, sinking into the boards, the body is trapped by vines, drained until only the bones remain-no need to wait for the vampire to decompose to take what is left, after all.Immediately after, Durandal and Hubert both are sucked back into the floor, and returned to their proper places on the floor.
D O N G.
The doors open. The killer's Masquerade is over. The Strangers are free to go.]
