[A week has passed. There's been no body, no investigation, no trial. No deaths. Congratulations!

Now the question is, will it last? At the moment, the Commander seems content with forcing people to do petty and mean-spirited errands in return for a mere shower. On the one hand, it's just for showers. On the other hand, what if the demands start to get more extreme? Would caving in encourage her? Is anyone willing to try and find out?

Honesty, with all the strange dates and information floating around from what's been uncovered, the only one in this place who's probably not worried as the time slips into its next movement is Sir Riprazor McRockfang. That's right, he's a sir. A grumpy sir, yes, but still a sir. No one's going to mess with him, regardless of what his true origins may be. And if they do, beware - he bites. Omnom. [Jonathan's got a loopy but somehow vicious grin on his face as he walks into the kitchen, holding something vaguely cartridge-shaped wrapped up in a large scrap of bedsheet.]

So! I think this was corn, once, but I don't think anybody's going to want to stand too close once I unwrap it. Got some other stuff from the tape games, but there just hasn't been a good time, I'll grab that later if anyone wants to see if it's theirs.

Popped out of nowhere like the other stuff did. I guess I'm just not good enough at computer games to get an alligator....

I have no idea what happened to that corn, but we're not using it. I'm putting my foot down. I want to win.

Hey, Mr Rosencreuz said it's like mushrooms, and someone scribbled all over a book in the library about how much they liked it. I know it looks gross, but... well, I didn't want to touch it, but the texture's right, and a lot of mushrooms aren't much better-looking. I figure fry it up in some butter once I've got it all pulled off of here, maybe add a little salt and it'll be good enough.

[C, you don't understand how excited he is at the thought of cooking without having to think about a god-damned ration book or use anything premade. It's been years.]

[ He's going to open up the MREs and get some tortillas, beans, and the best looking meat he can find out and throw the beans and the meat into a pan with some cumin, chili powder, garlic, a little bit of sugar, some paprika... whatever he can find that's available to make a good taco seasoning. Something to make it a little spicy and more flavorful.

And he's going to warm them up together and while he's doing that, glance at Jonathan. ]

I think our best bet is to use these, and do what we can to improve them. There's... not much we can do, but we can definitely make them better. Did you have anything you were actually going to make?

[In answer, he's just going to flick another burner on, set a frying pan down, and drop a cube of butter into it to start that melting. The smirk on his face speaks to either overconfidence or an utter lack of self-preservational instincts.]

Like I said, Fried Evil Corn That Might Be Mushrooms Somehow. I'll even taste it myself. You need a hand with anything?

I'm thinking of making a butter and garlic sauce for the so-called corn, since you cooked it in salt and butter. If you could help me with that when you're done, I'd be grateful. I just need powdered milk.

[ Passepartout is staring at the MREs as if they are completely foreign to him. He has no idea what to do with them, as they clearly used to be food, but how to turn them back into it? ]

Ah.... perhaps if we drown it in wine, it may become something?

I think it would take far better wine than we have available here.

[Not that she knows, she typically has others cook for her. She's a diva, not a chef!]

[Naoya's grabbed some pasta, some MREs that look like they might have something halfway decent in it, and some wine.]

[He probably shouldn't have grabbed wine, but whatever. It'll help things.]

[ Yesterday was stressful, and Naoya's probably noticed he's more quiet, than usual. Which is why he doesn't say anything to the wine, and simply gives his roommate a look that involves lifted eyebrows? ]

... I've worked at a cafe, a beef bowl shop, and... [ snorting softly at the wine ] ...a bar, but I doubt that would help anything here.

[ He sighs and pokes at one of the MREs. ]

Any guesses on what she even likes?

Probably something stupid, but also probably something with wine considering the wine room. Which is why I grabbed this. I've worked in a variety of food-related settings and I've made do with very little before.

[Hm... let's see...]

It looks like there's some kind of meat in this ration thing... we could make wine-infused pasta with some kind of meat in it.

[Nagisa has got this. He specializes in breakfasts.... Maybe she'd like a classic American lumberjack meal? He'll figure something out, he's already flitting around the kitchen getting an assortment of rations and space food.]

I can probably come up with something... The biggest obstacle is that a lot of rations and space food is pre-made as a meal, rather than being raw ingredients.
