WEEK 4

[To say that the mood of the remaining Strangers is...low...is an understatement. The revelations about Eric, and the death of the innocent Zelda, no doubt weighs on everyone's minds, now. It's a terrible blow, and deep down, those who are left probably know it.

That won't be the only thing come morning, however. When everyone wakes up, they will find that their memories have changed once more, as have the rules. More than that, a new floor has opened up-and something is wrong.

Of course something is wrong. Everything is wrong. Everything and everyone is wrong. Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. What can you do? Is there anything that can be done? And-will vengeance be taken for Zelda? Eric is now a free kill, after all. Then again, what's to stop Eric from killing again? He's no longer bound to the rules of the murder, after all...

Is there any hope left? Or is it only a matter of time before everyone well and truly snaps?

[the girl with the talons... Bangladesh, huh? so she was gone... that's one less murderer to worry about, Osomatsu supposes. he's not going to lose any sleep over her death, that's for sure]

Oh, no. You were just, like, rolling around on the floor. You looked like you were in pain, so that's why I was worried.

[Well damn, that sure is embarrassing. He'll still chuckle a bit despite that. May as well laugh off being made into a fool by whatever he saw in there. Thankfully he's seen enough weird shit in his long life that this is just yet one more to add to the list at this point.]

Something was in there and it didn't want me to be there. I thought I was falling into a trap with spikes on the bottom when it sent me out of the room.

[At least he still has some of that fruit left that he gave Arthur, that should be enough to deal with the soreness of what was real about that.]

[oh... yikes. that sounds pretty bad!]

Yeah, I don't see any traps around here. [though he does look around, just to make sure] I'm glad you're okay, though.

[Yeah, he'd never seen any traps in this place before now either. So he'll just put his whip back where it was.]

Then it seems that only my dignity has suffered a blow that it may never recover from. [And then he laughs at that.] Not that I had much left before coming here.

[oh. a nice way to break the tension. Osomatsu chuckles himself, even though the visions in this place aren't very humorous. ah, well, Thanatos is taking it like a champ!]

If that's the only thing you hurt, then we're in good shape!

[it would have been horrifying to walk out of the room and see... what Thanatos thought he saw]

[He's still smiling at least. Not the first time he's had to laugh off a brush with death. At least this time it was just his imagination and not a real one.]

I'm just glad it was my imagination and that Lady Luck still has yet to abandon me for a younger man. Had me going for moment that she may have.

Lady Luck, huh? I dunno, man, I feel like anyone who's in this place was long since abandoned by her.

Depends on your perspective. I was on a deserted island before this and it's a very dangerous place. We started with twenty six of us castaways, only twenty are left now. The way I see it, I'm still alive and that means I can still look for a way to escape.

[oh. hm. Osomatsu looks intrigued. he doesn't know a lot about Thanatos, so...]

What... happened? Like, how did you wind up there, if you don't mind me asking?

I was on my way to an expedition in Afroca when my ship was attacked by a giant aquatic creature and sunk. Washed up on the shore of the Isle of Seiren. I was the only survivor of that. The others are from other ships that were sunk by the same creature. It's a similar situation to here, none of us were there by choice and all we can do is try to cooperate towards a common goal of getting off the island and not dying to the various dangers present.

So you jumped right out of the frying pan, and into the fire.

How long were you there?

[Well, he's also keeping quiet about just how bad things were back home because he's not wanting to worry anyone. If he survives this place and finds a way home, he'll deal with it then.]

Almost two years at this point. We were able to kill the creature that caused us to end up there and our ship is nearly done so once I get back if they haven't left without me I'll be able to leave at last.

You guys killed it? That's pretty awesome! Did you find out what kinda creature it was?

[old man killed a monster, and built a ship to sail away from the island on. respect level increased!]

It's a creature called an Oceanus. While it's not quite the same, the best way to describe it would be to call it a giant, ancient and aggressive squid. It had to have been at least centuries old, if not even older.

[wow! at least talking about this is distracting Osomatsu from how he really feels]

Man, so cool. Bet that made some pretty good calamari, huh?

[notadinosnack]

[He laughs at that. And he's glad to help because talking about this stuff is helping Thanatos keep his mind off the bad stuff he's seen the past few days and it's definitely better than getting drunk to deal with it.] It was a bit too big to drag out of its nest to cook up. But we did have a great party after the battle was over.

[too bad they couldn't eat it... but Osomatsu's just hungry]

If you all worked together to build a boat, and beat up that monster, you must be pretty close.

[notadinosnack]

[Thanatos would be hungry too, but he shared some fruit with Arthur and there's still some left.]

Yeah, my main fear is them finishing it up and leaving without me if I don't get back soon.

...Do you really think they'd leave without you?

[notadinosnack]

I'd like to think they'd wait, but I'd also not want them to remain stuck there for longer than needed just because of me.

[hm...]

I wonder if things are still happening without us, out there. [they said that time was still passing, right? but Osomatsu wonders how true that is] I wonder if people notice we're gone.

[notadinosnack]

How could they not? There's only one of us after all. If I'm here then I'm not there helping them defend the village from beasts, hunting for provisions or helping build the ship.

[there's only one of us... Osomatsu winces]

R-right... I was just thinking that if we could get out messages, we might get search parties to come looking for us... But that seems pretty impossible. We don't even know where we are.

[or when they are? some time in the 12th century?]

Yeah and it's not like we're near a beach for me to even try my luck again with a message in a bottle.

I'd say we could try sending a message with Hydrangea or Puck but... [hm] If we're around desert, or something really bad, it'd probably not be a good idea to make them go through with that. Franciscus wouldn't forgive me if anything happened to his, uh... his friends.
