WEEK 4

[To say that the mood of the remaining Strangers is...low...is an understatement. The revelations about Eric, and the death of the innocent Zelda, no doubt weighs on everyone's minds, now. It's a terrible blow, and deep down, those who are left probably know it.

That won't be the only thing come morning, however. When everyone wakes up, they will find that their memories have changed once more, as have the rules. More than that, a new floor has opened up-and something is wrong.

Of course something is wrong. Everything is wrong. Everything and everyone is wrong. Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. What can you do? Is there anything that can be done? And-will vengeance be taken for Zelda? Eric is now a free kill, after all. Then again, what's to stop Eric from killing again? He's no longer bound to the rules of the murder, after all...

Is there any hope left? Or is it only a matter of time before everyone well and truly snaps?

We can then safely assume it does not wish to be seen, and that it may be able to cast illusions through touch.

It was more like the light itself pushed me back. It sounds weird because light can't touch, but they happened in the same instant.

Also, you remember the crystal ball from last week? Found that and had a similar experience but I saw someone different in there.

It was on the new floor. [No, he's not going to admit to being the thief.] Don't bother looking for it, that person was able to break it with whatever they did.

Damn. It could've been useful. Still, that means you didn't break it, hopefully that will calm the loud one down at least a bit....

Beats me what he was all furious about.

Something about trespassing and breaking things, it sounded like. But if you didn't break it, that should... I'm repeating myself.

[And he takes the opportunity to "casually" incline his head towards and glance at a nearby spiderweb, then to stretch his neck in the opposite direction and run his hands back through his hair. The walls have ears, so I can't ask what I want to is what he's trying to convey.]

[He knows Eric is wanting to ask if he's the thief, and even if asked Thanatos wouldn't admit to it.]

No, I mean I don't know what "it" was that he wants back.

Somehow I doubt he was yelling like that for no reason. I'm definitely curious what it was that made him so furious.

I don't think you should. They could see me looking in the crystal ball and looked right at me before breaking it. I wouldn't want something to happen to you.

I guess it is too risky, even if I try to look at the past... especially if- if the past really can be changed.

At least until we can try other avenues. Some risks aren't worth it if there are other options and we need as many of us alive and in one piece as possible.

[And Thanatos genuinely likes Arthur and doesn't want the poor boy to get hurt. He needs to get home so he can have many more years to have adventures and stories to tell.]

Has anyone else noticed their memories being kinda screwy?

You mean changes and things outright not making sense any more? If so yeah.

Yeah, like.... I thought Visil was a good guy. But now I remember he....he wasn't. He really, really wasn't. Or he just wasn't fighting as hard as I thought, or...

It's kind of a mess. And I thought it didn't matter anymore, but... I'm all confused. [Morally, that is. But this is getting into Depressing Home Canon turf.]

For me it's a matter of thinking I barely tolerated the others. But it turns out that I trusted them completely because they'd helped Ricotta when I couldn't. Yet I can't recall who among us died. It makes no sense to be unable to remember people I thought of as being like a family to Ricotta and I.

...that's not unheard of. If you scry on a powerful enough being, there's every chance they'll become aware of it and turn their ire on you in return.

To the point that they can break something from afar? I mean, I've seen some weird stuff, but nothing like that.

Gods. Demon princes. Archmages with nothing on their minds but the blind lust for power.

I could go on.

I think I'd prefer the Primordials at this rate.

...unfortunately, I'm afraid elementals are also among the ones capable of this.

Oh, I wasn't speaking of those. Just some really nasty beasts that you can't kill without orichalcum weapons.

Not that it matters much if we're in an entirely different world, but I've heard before of beings that were borne of pure madness.

Considering that everyone's been seeing things, that might be what we're dealing with here.
