[The first sensation you feel is a headache. It's brief, slicing, sharp. It passes soon after you wake up, but it is there nevertheless, and the pain is not easily forgotten. Perhaps your eyes also blur as if roused from a deep sleep; perhaps your tongue also feels off, like you swallowed a bug. It's not pleasant.
More unpleasant, though, is the second sensation that dawns on you all-this is not your bed. This, in fact, is unrecognizable. It is not anywhere you recall coming to, willingly or otherwise. It's a room with a bunk, and there is a strange smell in the air that is hard to ignore.
No, you are no longer home. Any possessions you may have had on you are gone, save your clothing and a strange watch you can't get off, no matter how hard you try. And when you run into the hallway, well-you might find yourself running into others who might be just as confused and scared as you are as the area around you slowly sways, up and down, left and right.
What is this place? Why are you here? Who are all these other people?
What is going on?]
no subject
[ On the list of possible things he had expected to wake up to today, it certainly hadn’t been this uncomfortable splitting headache and the secondary realization this was nowhere he knew.
Something that said he’d been kidnapped without the faintest idea of HOW.
Once he’d regained his bearings, Roland realized he wasn’t alone and there appeared to be a woman on the other bed with him. To which he just raised a hand up in greeting as if his head did not still ache. ]
Bonjour, madam. Not to alarm you but I believe we’ve been kidnapped. Are you hurt anywhere?
[ Eventually he may realize she’s a vampire but either way he’s going to be amiable about this. ]
Patrolling
[ Humming a little to himself, Roland had taken it upon himself to go and start checking out various places. So it’s not unusual to see what looks like an oddly dressed man of the cloth at various points around the Gigantic, inspecting everything closely.
Only as he senses someone nearby does he straighten up and flash a smile. ]
Ah, Bonjour! I certainly hope I wasn’t in your way, was I?
[ He wanted to know everything he could about this place he’d woken up in, but at some point he didn’t realize he’d gotten carried away. The last thing he wanted was to inconvenience anyone else. ]
Rec Room
How strange! I don’t see any astermite powering this..
[ One could hear his voice as he was currently enamored with the TV, checking it from all various angles trying to figure out how it worked or how it turned on. Which meant tapping it, looking behind it. Everything.
It was truly fascinating. ]
…What kind of function could this even have?
[ Sorry if any of y’all wanted to use the TV to play games or anything like that. This is just too interesting to him. ]
Infirmary
[ After a thorough inspection of this room and some trial and error? Guess who found the poisons? Not that they’re remaining there long or anything as one can spot him gathering as many into his arms as he can properly carry. All with a very apt look of concentration to where he hasn’t even really noticed someone coming in yet.
There is a task to be done and he absolutely will complete it. ]
Wildcard
[ Absolutely surprise me if nothing catches your eye. ]
Rec Room
Astermite? What's that?
no subject
Astermite is a unique mineral that serves as an energy source for most things, which is strange that I don't see any around that could be powering these unusual devices.
[ He brought a hand up to his chin in thought. ]
Unless there's a large amount of it elsewhere that's powering everything here and that's why I haven't seen any.
no subject
[Hermes doesn't exactly know if electricity counts as a mineral to this person.]
no subject
[ He comes from 1800's France, sir. This thing you said is not a thing that really exists yet for him. ]

[WAIT WHEN DID HE GET HERE and why is he talking from directly behind Roland?]
- but it's function, as it were, is to transmit a series of moving pictures and accompanying sounds on it's screen.
[A black gloved hand comes out to tap at said screen.]
It's quite simple to power on, though I'm unsure if we'd get little more than static.
no subject
Either way, he straightened up and his gaze fell to the screen with an apt look of delight and awe on his face after such an explanation. ]
My! How fascinating! A device capable of displaying BOTH moving pictures and sounds at once?
[ He's almost sparkling at this realization. ]
Why, i've never even heard of something like this before. Is it a new creation?
no subject
(He also noted the stifling - used to combat? Ah, but then, that wasn't unusual from someone from The Church...)]
New to you or I, perhaps! But not from those after our time, Father.
Regardless, it's called a 'Television.' Let's see, where is the...Ah, found it.
[He's been touching the sides until he found the row of buttons on most flatscreens, turning it on - where it shows just a simple bright blue screen.]
As I thought - though looking around, I see a collection of dvds nearby. Tell me, have you heard of Movies before?
no subject
It's only at the older man's use of such a title that he chuckled softly and used one hand to rub almost sheepishly at the back of his neck. ]
Oh, there's no need for such formal titles. Please, just call me Roland.
[ There's a whole thing that could be said as he's not a formal priest but just worked FOR the church.. though he's more distracted by the whole TV matter at the moment. A surprised noise tapered off into sheer awe as the thing actually turned on. ]
Quoi? [ Such a question leaves him before he can even think to correct himself in terms of language, really. Though he did then clear his throat before shaking his head. ] I'm afraid not! This is the first time i'm hearing about any of this!

infirmary
What are you doing?
no subject
It's quite simple, my dear. These are dangerous compounds and I would be absolutely remiss if I let them fall into innocent hands.
[ In other words? He has ZERO ill intentions for these items other than trying to keep people safe. ]
If someone unsuspecting were to come in contact with these, it could result in harm or even death and that is not an outcome I wish for.
no subject
[This is an infirmary, after all - and a ship's infirmary at that. It wouldn't have anything too advanced or specific, normally.
But nothing's been normal here at all.]
Do you have somewhere you're planning to store them?
no subject
[ He let off a soft hum in thought as he considered her words, then nodded proudly. ]
As it happens, I do. They were so kind to give each of us a closet and I intend to keep them in there wrapped up in a towel or something similar.
[ Yes it wouldn't be locked or anything but it wasn't like he was going around telling everyone he was doing this or would tell everyone where he was keeping them. ]
How are you managing to fare under these circumstances, miss?

Waking up
[ This has got to be the most chill priest she has ever met. No one is this stupid, so he's probably already on to her. Is he with the Society, she wonders? Or something else? Wtf would that something else even be?]
no subject
[ He already has words to say to the ones who decided that kidnapping people was a thing. Though he did note her very unusual attire which was indeed quite curious on it's own, along with something else very telling. ]
You do look quite pale, however. Is there anything I can get for you?
no subject
[ She points to an indefinite space behind him. If she can just get the padre to turn around, he might be good for something. ]
no subject
A lot of this is foreign to me as well but i'll do my best to give you an answer.
[ Sure. That was an opening when he turned around, but he most certainly was listening for even the slightest bit of movement. His posture relaxed and yet not. ]
Just what is it you were looking at over here, hm?

It's a television. A fancy one, but still not exactly an esoteric concept.
no subject
A television? Do tell me more. What does it do?
[ Matters of what someone was or wasn't could come later. This was a more pressing matter here. ]

[ He listens intently, nodding as it all sets in before his whole expression just positively brightens! If it were possible he'd be sparkling ridiculously after this little revelation. ]
Really?! How positively incredible! Amazing! I didn't even know such a thing was even possible!

Oh! Uh. What... what are you doing with those?
[She peers at one of the bottles that he's holding. Digitoxin?]
Do you have heart problems...?
no subject
Ah, I'm afraid not.
[ A glance down to the bottles he was carrying, then back up to the young woman here with him. ]
I am in the process of removing what appear to be dangerous poisons from the reach of any innocent individuals so noone can get hurt.
no subject
[That seems a logical explanation, and she thinks about it for several moments.]
But where are you taking them?
no subject
[ He nodded his head surely as if this would completely explain it all away, though he did hum after a moment or so. ]
I would love to say where, but then it would defeat the purpose of me removing them from here, would it not?
